Department Goals:

* For every student to be able to participate in all activi-ties no matter what his/her abilities or limitations might be

* For students to develop:

  • Their muscular strength, aerobic capacity and flexibility through a movement based program of stretching, strength development and sustained aerobic activity
  • And improve upon their motor skills and muscular coordination through sports oriented skill acquisition
  • Concepts of teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship in a positive and non threatening learning environment

How many years do students need to take PE?   
    There is a two year requirement unless taking an exemption class. 

Can students take PE as a Junior or Senior?
    Yes, there is a co-ed PE class available.   

In which Sports Leagues do SVHS students play?
    NCL II and CMC (Coastal Mountain Conference)  Division 5.   

How many students play sports at SVHS? 
    75 – 80% of our students play a sport at least one time during their four years at SVHS .
