The Mustangs traveled north and south for basketball tournaments this past weekend. The Lady Mustangs went south to San Francisco and played to a sucessful conclusion in the Urban Tournament. They came in second to a powerful and bigger school Galileo, losing in the championship game 65-37. The Lady Mustangs beat Emery 63-48 in the opener and then beat Urban to get to the final game. Seniors Ursyla Baumgarten, Rebecca Dodele, and Jacalyn Murphy led the Mustangs in scoring through those two games. The team is now 4-2 overall and will face Roseland Prep Tuesday in their first league contest.
The Varsity men’s team traveled north to Cloverdale to face the host school, St. Helena, and San Francisco Waldorf. They lost to Cloverdale 48-34 and St. Helena 48-45, but came back with a victory vs. SF Waldorf 39-29. This proved to be a tough week for the Mustang men as they also suffered losses to Piedmont 54-39 and Branson 64-29 earlier in the week. They hope to regroup Tuesday for their league opener against Roseland Prep. Current overall record for the Varsity men is 2-5.
