Freshman Alex Gambonini received the 2012 California State Holstein Breeder of the Future Award.  Through an application and interview process, this award goes to an applicant age 15 and under, that shows a significant understanding in breeding, raising and improving the genetics of the Holstein breed and receives recognition and success in their own Holstein dairy herd project.  Alex has been in 4H with the Sonoma Valley 4H Club for 7 years.  Currently she is the President of the Sonoma Valley 4H Club.  Her 4H projects include Dairy, Beef, Swine, Sheep, Holiday Cookies and Leadership.  Alex is currently in her first year on the Petaluma FFA Dairy Judging team and also on the Petaluma FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team.  Alex also competes at the Sonoma-Marin Fair, Sonoma County Fair, Marin County Fair, Mendocino County Fair and the Redwood Empire Holstein Association Black and White Show.  She has won several Showmanship Awards, Conformation Classes, Holstein Production Awards and 4H Outstanding Registered Holstein Exhibitor Award at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in 2010.  Alex owns 23 registered Holstein dairy cows.  Along with being President of the Sonoma Valley 4H Club, she is also a Redwood Empire Holstein Junior Correspondent, and the California State Holstein Junior Historian.
