Playing in the first round of the league tournament, the Varsity men’s basketball team beat Tech HS 46-41. St. Vincent is the 3rd seed in the tournament and Tech was #6. The Mustangs trailed going into the 3rd quarter 37-35 but outscored Tech 11-4 to close out the game. Seniors Zach Pierson and Chris Faulknor led the scoring with 12 and 10 points respectively. The overall record for the team is now 12-13 as they have been making a push to the .500 mark with a current win streak of 7 games in a row. The next game will be vs. Rincon Valley Christian (#2 seed) at 7:00 at Lawrence Jones Middle School. The Mustangs upset the then league leading Eagles about two weeks ago, so this should be a great game.
The #1 seeded Lady Mustangs will take on Upper Lake at 5:30 on Thursday at Lawrence Jones Middle School. They received a first round bye, but might be missing Seniors Rebecca Dodele and Urysla Baumgarten in this game due to injury. St. Vincent recently traveled to Upper Lake for their last game and struggled to come away with a win as they trailed at halftime. The Lady Mustangs have depth at every position, so if Dodele and Baumgarten do not play, the other members of the squad will be very capable of coming away with a win.
