1. How do I pick my son/daughter up early?
If you schedule an appointment (dental, orthodontic, medical, etc.) for your son/daughter during the school day, you must have your son/daughter bring a signed note to the Attendance Office from you, stating the reason and time to be excused. This needs to be brought in before the school day begins. Your son/daughter will get an Early Dismissal Pass and sign out at the front office; when returning to school he/she must check back in with the Attendance Office at which time they will receive their pass back into class.
2. When I am bringing my son/daughter late to school what should I do?
If you bring your son/daughter late to school, he/she must bring a note explaining the absence to the Attendance Office. He/she will sign in at the front office, then receive an admission slip which must be presented to the teacher when he/she arrives in class.
3. When my son/daughter will not be coming to school today what is my responsibility?
The parent/guardian must call in the reason for the son's/daughter's absence to the Attendance Office prior to 10:30 a.m. each day. Call (707) 763-1032 ext. 112; if you call late at night or very early in the morning, leave a message on the 24-hour voice mail.
4. If I want to take my son/daughter out of town during school what is the policy?
Your son/daughter must go to the Attendance Office for a Pre-Arranged Absence Form to take to each teacher whose class he/she will be missing. The Principal must approve the absence, then each teacher must sign off on the form. Once the form is filled out, the parent/guardian must sign it and then return it to the Attendance Office. Teachers will inform students of arrangements to complete needed homework, tests, labs, etc., prior to departure. Allow teachers three days notice before departure. Homework will be issued at the discretion of each teacher.
5. How do you use the emergency information form I gave you?
The Emergency Information Forms are kept on file in the Attendance Office for use when your son/daughter is injured or there is an emergency during the school day.
6. Is it OK for my son/daughter to bring a student from another school to a dance?
Students are allowed to bring a guest from another school to a dance as long as the guest reads the Dance Guidelines and has his/her school administrator fill out the Dance Permission Form which must then be turned into the front office. A deadline will be issued prior to each dance, and will be placed in the daily announcements. Students may not bring guests to school, St. Vincent High School is a closed campus.
7. I need to deliver something to my child during the day. How is that done?
Students cannot receive items in class. A cart will be stationed in the front office. Items such as lunches or P.E. clothes, may be placed on the cart labeled with the student's name. Items of value are not to be placed on the cart. If your student has forgotten an item they should periodically walk by and check the cart. Forgotten homework can be placed on the cart, but will also not be delivered. Faxed homework is not accepted.
8. I have a message for my student. Can it be delivered anytime?
Messages for students will only be delivered in cases of emergency.
9. What do I have to do if my child has to take medication at school?
You must fill out the Oral Medication Authorization Form and leave the form along with the medication in the front office.
10. Is there a place where my child can lay down if they feel ill?
There is a place for your son/daughter to lie down in the Office, but he/she may only stay one class period unless a parent is on the way.
11. What does my child do if they don't feel well at school?
If your child does not feel well, they should ask their teacher to be excused and come to the front office. At that time a parent will be contacted and appropriate arrangements will be made. Your child should not call you from their cell phone. If your child calls you from their cell phone, please instruct them to come to the front office immediately. If they want to return to class until some arrives to pick them up we can give them a pass.
