Campus Ministry

Christ has no body now but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through  which he looks with compassion on the world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.  Yours are the hands with which he blesses all the world.                                                    --St. Teresa of Avila

Mission Statement

The mission of St. Vincent de Paul High School is to educate students through a college preparatory curriculum that develops their spiritual, academic, and social potential.  As a Catholic school, we teach Gospel values and ideals and provide opportunities for our students to experience and grow in their faith.  Our goal is for students to become compassionate, responsible and active members of their communities.

What is campus ministry?

.

Campus Ministry strives to lead students to the awareness of the living presence of God in their lives, in their experiences, and in the world.
The program is responsible for building the faith community and gives expression to its identity in every aspect of school life, particularly, through prayer, liturgical celebration (Mass), and ministry to students and to the community.
Whether the opportunity comes on campus through liturgy, or religion classes, or off campus through deeds of service or retreats, students are able to seek spiritual formation in many different settings.

All school Masses are coordinated by Students in conjunction with Campus Ministry and are responsible for selecting music, choosing readings, preparing petitions, and other special rites or symbols that enhance the experience of that Mass. They also encourage fellow students to participate in readings, serving, and music.   Our all school Masses include the beginning of the year Mass, Aug. 20; Immaculate Conception, Dec. 8; Ash Wednesday (Beginning of Lent) March 9; Tim Shea’s Memorial Mass, May 27; and the Baccalaureate Mass, June 4.

WeeklyMass: is celebrated each Wednesday at the beginning of the day (unless noted) with a different 1st period class each week.

Special Masses:
Other Masses are celebrated through the year at the request of an organization or sports team.  Here the JV and Varsity Volleyball hear Mass with Father Sean Rogers with prayers of a successful season.

Daily Prayer Experience: At the start of each day, activity ceases as the entire community pauses for the long observed tradition of prayer over the loud speaker.

ENTER TO LEARN, LEAVE TO SERVE

Our Christian Service Hours Program exists to encourage students to open their minds and hearts to the needs of those in the community in which they live. Additionally, this program has assisted many of our students to develop positive leadership and good interpersonal communication skills, and learn a little more about themselves as well.  It is our sincere hope that as our students come to appreciate the value and necessity of volunteers in their community, they will also develop a commitment to volunteering that reaches far beyond high school.Put Picture of the Service Fair

Mexico trip 2

What Student’s
Are Saying... “This trip has impacted me in ways that are hard to explain. I have felt like I have become a part of the La Mision Community; which is kind, loving and caring.  These trips remind me of the important aspects of life.”

“Help brings unknown turmoils to the surface and flattens them out with love. I always enjoy going because it helps me discover more of who I am.”

“As easy as it is to pity those who are less fortunate, once you are down there it becomes even easier to realize that we can learn so much from them and their appreciation for Life and for God.”

“This trip made me understand what God wants me to do in a better way. I want to continue working in Mexico and possibly even move there after college.”

“Overall, I think the trip taught me that I need to give my life to God and see where He takes me.”

Join a team of students and adult leaders from St. Vincent High School and parish who will be going to La Mision, Mexico to make an unforgettable difference in the lives of people who are in need.
