This year’s policy debate topic, about which 70+ St. Vincent students have been researching and competing, is about United States transportation infrastructure investment.  The team invited local press to a recent public debate on the topic.  One blogger had this to say:

“A fresh-faced seventeen-year-old tried to explain the nuances of the debate to me during breaks.  I appreciated her efforts.  She truly was kind about it.  But she might as well have been instructing me in the social rituals of an aboriginal tribe.  A fast-talking aboriginal tribe.”

But, he admits, “learning to assimilate arguments quickly and to respond comprehensively and effectively is a good life skill.”
