Last Friday, the Mustang Varsity Softball team beat Potter Valley 21-0 and then turned around on Saturday to beat St. Joseph’s of Alameda 5-4. Junior Hannah Sarlatte was the winning pitcher of record vs. Potter Valley tossing a 1 hitter with 8 strike outs and no walks. Leading hitters included Olivia Sikora 3×5 (RBI), Ursyla Baumgarten 3×5 (2 RBI), and Hayley Olson 2×3 (RBI). This was another league game won in 5 innings and no runs scored by the opposition. The current league record for St. Vincent is 10-0. On Saturday, the Mustangs played a terrific non-league game vs. St. Joseph’s of Alameda and pulled out the win in the bottom of the seventh inning 5-4. St. Vincent trailed 4-3 going into that seventh innning, and were able to get 2 baserunners on.  Hayley Olson was up to bat with 2 outs and knocked in the tying and winning runs with a hit over the right fielders head. Olson was also the winning pitcher of record in tossing a 4 hitter with 2 walks and 8 strike outs. Leading hitters for the Mustangs were Haley Antonini 2×4, Sarah Calabrese 1×2 (3B, RBI), and Olson 1×2 (2 RBI). This was an important victory for the Mustangs for seeding purposes in the NCS playoffs and brings the overall record to 12-7. St. Vincent is currently on an 11 game winning streak. Next game will be tomorrow against 2nd place Calistoga whose only loss of the league season is to the Mustangs.
