The Women’s Varsity Basketball team solidified their first place standing in the NCL II league with an impressive win over Rincon Valley Christian yesterday 59-17. The team took an early and decisive lead in the first quarter, 19-4, and never looked back. Leading the scoring was Sophomore Olivia DeGraca with 12 points and Senior Grace Jennings with 10 points. The latest Mustang victories are even more impressive because they have been without leading scorer Senior Ursyla Baumgarten who has been out with a knee injury. Consequently, DeGraca has stepped up her game filling in for Baumgarten. The team is currently 10-5 overall and 5-0 in league play.
The Varsity men’s night did not go as well, as they lost to RVC 46-43. The game was tight all the way until the end as the Eagles led by only 6 points going into the 4th quarter. Leading scorers for St. Vincent were Senior Chris Faulknor with 17 points, Junior Grant DeVoe with 11, and Senior Zach Pierson with 10. The men are currently 4-12 overall and 2-3 in league play.
The JV boys beat RVC 49-21 and the JV girls did not play as RVC could not fill a team. The teams will return to play at Calistoga on Friday beginning with the JV girls at 3:30.
