Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Scholar Award
The Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Scholar Award is awarded to a limited number of incoming bilingual freshmen. Candidates will have maintained a GPA of 3.5 during their 7th and 8th grade years and have met all the requirements of the award. Our Lady is caring, faithful and compassionate. These are traits we look for in a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Scholar.
Applicant Eligibility
- Maintained a 3.5 GPA during scholar’s 7th and 8th grade academic years.
- Speaks fluent Spanish and English.
- Active participant in their Parish.
- Submits an application and completes the HSPT test by January 16, 2020.
Process
- Scholar applicants will notify the Admissions Office of their eligibility for this award and then will be sent an application.
- Scholar applicant will be required to submit their application by 5:00 p.m. March 1, 2021:

- Essays to multiple questions.
- A letter of recommendation from his/her Pastor.
- Based on the essays and letter of recommendation, the Scholarship Committee will select applicants and their families to participate in interviews in early March. Applicants will be required to wear business attire for the interview.
- Once an applicant has been chosen to interview for the scholarship, the applicant will be interviewed by the Chair of our World Language Department. Part of the interview will be conducted in the Spanish Language.
- Scholar applicants will be notified of the results on March 19, 2021.
- Scholars and parents will sign an agreement detailing the requirements of the award.
Benefits
- Scholars receive one-half tuition for four years if the Scholar maintains the award.
- Scholars have class registration priority.
Maintenance of Award
- Scholar must maintain a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher during his/her four years of attendance at St. Vincent de Paul High School. If a scholar falls below a GPA of 3.5, the scholar risks loss of the award.
- Scholar must complete 50 hours of community service per year.
- Scholar must maintain a flawless discipline record. Award may be rescinded for violations of any Student Handbook policies including excessive tardiness or absences.
