The Board of Regents for the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Schools hosted the 5th annual “President’s Event”.  It was an in-person event for parents, alumni, benefactors, friends of St. Vincent’s and invited guests.  This is the premier showcase and fund-raising event for our elementary and high schools.  We are united by a conviction of the value and importance of private, independent and Catholic education.

Pastor & President, Father William P. Donahue (SVES ’72 and SVHS ’76), high school Principal Patrick W. Daly and elementary school Principal Shannon Jordan shared their ambitious outlook for the future of our schools.  With the challenges confronting all schools, this leadership team has a clear vision for our future.  Student representatives Wambui Munene (SVHS Class of ’22), Cameron Vaughn (SVHS Class of ’23) and Catalina Vaca (SVES Class of 2023) shared their sentiments.

The St. John Baptist de la Salle Award was presented to one teacher at each school who continually inspires and academically challenges their students.  It recognizes excellence in teaching — A focus on creativity, rapport with students, parents, and peers, a positive attitude, exceptional instruction who lives their faith in and out of the classroom.  Congratulations to SVES 6th grade teacher Heather Almond and SVHS Spanish teacher Aaron Vela for their impactful contributions to our schools.

Alumnus Paul Maloney (SVES ’85 and SVHS ’89) was our Guest Speaker and presented The Soul of My St. Vincent ExperienceHis remarks were considered by many the highlight of the evening.  The 9-minute presentation can be seen below — it will be time well-spent.

In our first four years, we have raised more than $375,000 which have helped us to:

  1. Provide tuition assistance for many students on both campuses;
  2. Secure funding for the new Linda Gonzales Art’s Building at the high school;
  3. Complete the Senior Lounge and weight room at the high school;
  4. Deliver the Junior Achievement program for the Junior High, and;
  5. Fund other vital programs and investments across our k-12 curriculum.

There was no cost to attend the 2022 President’s Event; but we did ask that attendees consider a gift of at least $500.  We enjoyed connecting with our current families, alumni parents, generous benefactors, interested community members and providing an opportunity for alumni to stay engaged with our schools.  To secure your spot on our invitation list for next year, please contact us at president@svhs-pet.org.

Last year, the 2021 President’s Event was a live virtual event intended for and open to the entire community.  It featured presentations from our school leadership and special guests:

  • Raymond J. Volker, Headmaster of Warren-Walker School in San Diego, California
  • Bishop Thomas Daly, Chairman of the Committee on Catholic Education
  • Robert Rooks, Chief Executive Officer of the Reform Alliance

If you are interested in elementary and secondary education, the re-opening of schools in California, are considering applying to St. Vincent’s or simply interested in hearing from these distinguished speakers, please watch the recorded event below:

Thank you for stepping up and answering the call to support our vision for the future with your generous donations.  100% of the donations go directly to the schools and are tax-deductible.
