Petaluma Educational Foundation Funds Two SVHS Grants.
The Board of Directors of the Petaluma Educational Foundation has approved funding for one enrichment grant and one major impact grant. to St. Vincent High School.
The $2,000 Enrichment Grant: “Debating the Future”  will provide the technology tools necessary to transition our nationally ranked debate teams from competing with paper-laden source materials to efficient, paperless  competitors.  It allows students with limited financial resources to employ the technology necessary to compete in debate tournaments.
The PEF Major Impact Grant of $10,000 paired with the SV PFO Fund a Need gift of $11,000 will fund the “Intelligence Gateway,”  the new IT Lab opening fall 2012.  IT Instructor Loretta Tarino, working closely with Principal John Walker, Academic Dean Michael O’Toole and Tech Manager Norm Collins, will oversee the purchase and installation of 25 state of the art IT systems to prepare students and impart the technological skills they need beyond high school.
This year PEF received 38 Enrichment grant requests, funding 28 for a combined total of $40,614 to Petaluma teachers and administrators.  PEF has also awarded $158,000 in Major Impact grants.  For more information about the Petaluma Educational Foundation, please visit their website
