This fall, thousands of athletic teams from schools and colleges around the country will be participating in Breast Cancer Awareness fundraisers, campaigns and sporting events.  These teams will raise awareness and promote breast health education in the community and support breast cancer research by raising funds at special events .

DIG PINK events give spectators and athletes the opportunity to become involved by making donations to the cause and by pinking out the events (i.e. donning pink jerseys and t-shirts to show their support).

The St. Vincent Junior Varsity and Varsity volleyball teams will be hosting their annual DIG PINK volleyball games on October 23rd v. Sonoma Academy.  The J.V. teams will play at 5pm and Varsity approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the J.V. match.  The teams will be donning pink jerseys and t-shirts, as well as, encouraging fans to become involved and donate to breast cancer research.

Before, during and after the volleyball matches there will be many special events such as a bake sale at the October 13th, Homecoming football game, selling pink bracelets at school and school events, a second bake sale at the DIG PINK event and gift basket raffles to raise funds.

For the past several years, the St. Vincent Volleyball Program, under the Direction of Coach Teri Scott, Athletic Directors Sue Keller and Pat Hayes and the SVHS Principal Dr. John Walker, has been teaching and modeling the St. Vincent DePaul High School motto, “Enter to Learn, Learn to Serve”, through its DIG PINK fundraising and awareness activities.

The proceeds from all donations will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

The Side-Out Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families. The organization’s goal is to advance clinical trials, increase compassionate support services and educate communities.  E-mail: | URL:
