The baseball team at St. Vincent de Paul High School competes in the North Bay League – Redwood, North Coast Section Division 5 and California Interscholastic Federation.
The team is coached by Jim Selvitella, assisted by Paul Braa, Chris Dunne, Ralph Gentile, Jeff Haluska and Dan Petersen. Gentile played at the University of San Francisco and in professional baseball. He was a longtime assistant coach at Casa Grande. Dunne played at the University of San Diego.
“We want to create an environment in which we can beat any other team on any day,” he explained.
When Coach Selvitella talks about a good program, he means more than on the baseball field. “One thing Principal Daly believes in is student athletes,” the baseball coach said. “Academics first. There is no reason a good student can’t be a good baseball player.”
